Case of Chat Bot Funnel for FinTech: How We Generated 6k+ Leads a Month

Welcome to our first case study article, showcasing a significant success story from our journey. It all began in 2018 when we launched our agency. Back then, we were a team of two, brimming with marketing inspiration and eager to reach new heights. Although we had some foundational knowledge, we faced challenges in acquiring clients due to our limited sales skills. With some savings at hand, we decided to dive into affiliate marketing, where we wouldn’t need to search for clients but could instead sign up with an affiliate network and test various offers.

We chose to focus on FinTech offers, where advertisers pay us when people open a bank account, take out a loan, or get a credit card. We immersed ourselves in researching this market. Our initial theory involved using PPC advertising, similar to many websites you’ve likely seen on Google, offering loans through a simple quizlet.

While this was the easiest approach, we decided against launching such ads due to the exorbitant costs of Google Ads auctions, which made even basic tests unaffordable. Instead, we continued our search for a viable solution.

Our breakthrough came when we considered the popular social network in Russia, VK.com, which functions similarly to Facebook, offering messaging, photo sharing, group joining, and public subscriptions. VK.com has its own advertising network, and almost everyone in Russia has an account. During this time, chatbots were also gaining popularity, which sparked our innovative idea.

We created a VK group called “LoanBot” and launched an ad campaign there. The concept was simple: people who saw our ad could message our group, triggering a chatbot that guided them through a quizlet to collect their details. Based on their answers, they would receive a curated list of loan offers. We started with a modest budget of around $40 a day and quickly noticed that our daily revenue from the affiliate network was nearly $100. Seeing this promising ROI of approximately 150%, we began scaling our campaign.

As we increased our budget to $1,000 a day, we consistently generated at least 2,000 leads per month. Our best month saw a remarkable 6,415 leads. Although our ROI decreased to 80% with higher budgets, it remained highly profitable.

The success story of our "LoanBot" project illustrates how creativity and strategic thinking can overcome initial challenges and yield significant results. Starting with limited resources and facing the high costs of traditional PPC advertising, we turned to a less conventional approach, leveraging the power of VK.com and chatbots to connect with potential leads.

Our innovative strategy not only proved to be cost-effective but also demonstrated the importance of adaptability in digital marketing. By focusing on user engagement and providing a seamless experience through our chatbot, we managed to capture the interest of thousands of users, generating substantial leads and impressive returns on investment.

This experience reinforced several key lessons for us:
